Gateway Foundation Chicago Kedzie is more than just a sober living recovery home. We also provide outpatient treatment to all of our clients to help them along in their recovery journey. Our wide range of addiction therapy services helps clients stay focused on the sobriety while they plan for their next steps.
Why Is a Variety of Services Important?
Addiction affects everyone differently, and each person has different circumstances that led to their current struggles. For this reason, it’s important not to use a one-size-fits-all approach to addiction treatment. While some may respond positively to a blanket approach, others may fall between the cracks during a treatment program that doesn’t meet their needs.
Gateway Foundation Chicago Kedzie understands this and takes the time to get to know each client so that we can craft a personalized treatment plan just for them. Typically, these plans consist of a combination of individual and group therapies paired with case management services. Of course, the actual modalities used during therapy can vary widely as well. Some of our specific addiction therapy offerings include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based method that is one of our most utilized addiction therapy services. This method asks clients to become more aware of the relationship between their thoughts and behaviors in order to make positive changes. Due to its success rate in treating both mental illnesses and addiction, it’s particularly useful in cases where clients have both an addiction and a co-occurring mental disorder.
This modality is the use of FDA-approved medications to treat withdrawal symptoms or cravings. Unfortunately, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is not ideal for all situations. Currently, medications can only treat issues related to the withdrawal of opioids, alcohol, and benzodiazepines. Our clinicians decide whether this treatment method is necessary during the intake process.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps clients to come to terms with their circumstances rather than fighting back against them. They learn that once they stop trying to control everything, life gets a little easier. ACT also encourages clients to be more present, as opposed to fretting about their past or future.
Addiction doesn’t just impact the individual; it affects the whole family. This disease can breed resentment, distrust, and misunderstanding within familial relationships. Family therapy can help clients and their families get back on the same page. It can also help families understand how to best support their loved one, including how to stop enabling their addictive behaviors.
